thunderbird emails marked as read now stay bold

I recently installed the upgraded Coreldraw v2019 and started using its font utility. Now my emails marked as "read" remain bold - including all the ones saved in folders and in the trash. So far I've tried all the strategies I can think of, but nothing works.

does removing the font utility work? If so you have found a bug. Probably in the font tool.
