Why is TB so slow in accessing inbox messages? Particularly when there is a file attached? Is it because of the IMAP synching?

Hello,

I just switched to TB from Eudora...quite a transition process!

Now that I'm here in TB-land - I'm wondering: why is TB so slow in accessing Inbox messages? There is a noticeable delay each time I want to look at an Inbox message - as if the computer is reaching out EACH TIME to synch-up to the email account.

This is noticeably slower than the old Eudora, so I'm wondering if I did something wrong on the install.

I'm running Win7 professional, on an otherwise pretty fast Core I7 Vpro laptop.

Any thoughts?

Thanks in advance.

Dean

What is your antivirus, and is it scanning email? If it's especially slow with attachments, AV is the first thing to consider, although there are many other sources of slow performance.

I am running AVG - but my settings are NOT set to scan outgoing emails.

Attached image shows my email settings.

Should I change something?

Thanks in advance!!!

Your Mail Shield is set to not scan incoming or outgoing mail, but I would also disable SSL (secure) connection scanning if it's on:

I recommend going through the list in the article cited in my first reply, beginning with Windows safe mode, to definitively rule out startup apps such as AVG.
