I run several businesses so need to be able to see recent inbound email (some of which is tagged for future action) as well as email saved in a variety of client folders for reference. Once I got TB going again, those folders were missing - more than two dozen of them. I do have a recent backup of my entire system (clone, two days ago) and am wondering if I should just replace my entire default profile with the one in the clone. I'm on Windows 10 on a high-end 64-bit system. Thanks.

By the way, the default profile is in excess of 50GB. I've been in business a long time and though I delete ancient email files from archives, I save a lot for reference.

it is fairly common following an update for antivirus/Internet security suites to mess up and block Thunderbird connecting to the mail server. In the case of IMAP mail accounts this can see the mail apparently lost as the failed synchronize deletes the local copies of mail.

You do not mention if you are using IMAP for these accounts. SO I am just throwing it out there.

Failure to start often means failure to terminate especially following an update. I would suggest an immediate reinstall. To be sure that the update actually completed as the 68.0 release contains changes to profile folder management, I think it prudent to make sure that is actually completed successfully.

Make sure you have an exception in your anti virus program for the Thunderbird profile folders. That might help prevent further issues.
