Updated my firefox and lost my passwords. Found where they are stored but cant figure out how to import them to use them. Copy and paste didnt work.
I recently updated my firefox to quantum. I didnt realize the profiles creation was the new thing. So i lost all of my passwords that I had stored which made for logging in extremely simple. After reviewing dozens of support pages, I found the default and new profile and where my passwords are being stored. I did the copy and paste thing per mozilla support, but the passwords are still not available for use (unless I was suppose to activate something). I had also lost my bookmarks but somehow found them but the passwords are no longer associated with those sites. Overall, I want to know how to retrieve/activate my passwords on the new profile or even the old profile. Or how I might open/import them to other browsers for use. I havent been able to do much work on my Macbook because resetting passwords would be too tedious from the password system i have in place. Please help! **disclaimer, I am not very tech-inclined if you have not noticed but I am determined!

logins.json and key3.db [v58+]key4.db : These are the password files. Did you Copy Both?
You can use the Profile Manager to go the the old profile and delete compatibility.ini in this profile.
You can use the button on the "Help -> Troubleshooting Information" (about:support) page to go to the current Firefox profile folder or use the about:profiles page.
- Help -> Troubleshooting Information -> Profile Directory:
Windows: Show Folder; Linux: Open Directory; Mac: Show in Finder
