My message filters (under tools) seem to have stopped working. How do I re-activate them?

as there is no option to enable or disable them you best start looking further afield for the issue.

Try restarting from the help menu with add-ons disabled. Add-ons are often the cause of other functions no longer working.

You certainly CAN enable and disable (TOOLS/MESSAGE FILTERS, Enable-disable). Not sure what you mean here.

Thanks

When you find that global filter option to turn filters on and off please let me know. Until then you might want to try the diagnostic steps to try and find out why yours are not working. I assume you would not be posting here about an individual filter that was not enabled.

To globally turn message filters on and off in Thunderbird, you use TOOLS then MESSAGE FILTERS then Enable-disable. My filters have always worked properly until just recently (after an update I believe). I just want to be clear that I have not disabled the filters so that is not the reason that they are not working.

Have you tried the diagnostic process yet? I can put it in more formal words if you like.

Restart Thunderbird with add-ons disabled (Thunderbird Safe Mode). On the Help menu, click on "Restart with Add-ons Disabled". If Thunderbird works like normal, there is an Add-on or Theme interfering with normal operations. You will need to re-enable add-ons one at a time until you locate the offender.

I was concerned about your statement that filters could not be enabled/disabled. I hope we agree that they can.

I restarted in 'safe' mode with no add-ons. When I click to RUN FILTERS on my inbox nothing happens and there is no indication that anything is happening. I wait and no messages are removed as they used to be a week ago.
