error message password or username incorrect but i can sign on in chrome and on phone with same just not in tbird

I get an error message regarding password or username not correct and cannot verify settings while trying to install my gmail account to tbird. I am able to open my account in chrome and on my phones using the same information. I have had this email on tbird for some years now however after changing password I was no longer able to connect to the page so I deleted and am attempting to reload the account

If you want to set up your account as POP you'll have to 'allow less secure apps' in your Google account settings.

Alternatively you can set up your account as IMAP and use OAuth2 authentication for both, the Gmail IMAP and SMTP servers.
