My mailbox is returning messages when there is nothing in my inbox. I deleted the trash as well. What else can I do to alleviate this issue?

I am receiving word from co workers on not being able to send me emails as my mailbox is full. I have deleted everything in my inbox and the trash. What else can I do?

two issues.

1. Thunderbird does not actually "expunge" an IMAP mail term unless you compact the mail folders. It is on the file folder.

2. If you use POP there is no link between Thunderbird and the mail server to remove mail. So if Thunderbird is configured to leave mail on the server nothing you do in Thunderbird will reduce your mail server side.

The folk complaining are getting messages from the mail server you mail is full, not Thunderbird. So I suggest you work out if your account is IMAP or POP and take the appropriate action.
