For the past week or so I have been receiving emails with about 10% of the text corrupted like this:

Les figurants ont été brifès  avec efficacité juste quelques heures avant le spectacle, par  Thomas un com

Any ideas what I can do to correct it? I have tried switching from Western to UTC-8 in the settings but it makes no difference

If you have one that isn't personal or sensitive, please forward me an email demonstrating this problem.

My guess is that the message is encoded using UTF-8 or Unicode (I'm never sure which is the right phrase to use) but is possibly improperly constructed and doesn't declare this encoding, or somehow your Thunderbird is ignoring and overriding the declared encoding.
