when opening thunderbird first page only shows for a second and then goes to "draft" page and stays there. uninstalled & reinstalled problem remained

On opening mail this morning I went to drafts to complete an e-mail there and then sent it off. After that I was stuck on the "drafts" page. I closed down thunderbird and opened it again. The first page showing inbox, sent etc. showed up for a blink on an eye and then went immediately drafts page and again I couldn't get out. I uninstalled and reinstalled thunderbird and it remained the same. I even restored computer to earlier date and that did not solve the problem.

I am using Windows 10
