I can get to the school (SUNY Ulster) website and I can get my mail from their email service but logging on to my courses I run into the message I quoted in my question. What does "the owner of auth3.sunyulster.edu" mean? Is that me? I also have this problem if I try to do it via my alternative browser, Safari.

If other Browser has that same problem then it is site/author related and it's up to the author to fix the problem. Email and Site access are two different process.

You're not the owner of the site, no, but the issue could be on your computer. Although Firefox phrases the message that way, a common issue is that there is an intermediary between Firefox and the site causing the problem.

If you see that error again, could you click the "Advanced" button on the page to access more details? In particular, if you could, please copy/paste the error code in ALL CAPS, which often starts with SEC_ERROR.
