I'm using Firefox Quantum 50.0.1 (64 bit) on Linux Mint. I've checked everything I can find about inhibited bookmarks but nothing seems to work. I can bookmark most pages, though not all. My two biggest problems are Google searches and youtube. Neither will they appear in my browsing history. I don't recall if there have been others, but I think that there have been a couple. I've tried opining in safe mode with the same results. everything else seems to work fine.

I can't say exactly when this started. I've reinstalled Linux 4 times and the only add-ons I've installed were Adblock PLus and Block site. Neither one worked well enough so I removed them both.

I do a lot of searches and it's time consuming to save them in a text file each time for continuing work.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi Papa1953, how do you install your Firefox? Some distributions customize Firefox with modified settings or add-ons. If you haven't already, you could try the Mozilla version from here:

https://www.mozilla.org/firefox/all/

And double-check that you don't have any unknown extensions on the Add-ons page. Either:

  • Ctrl+Shift+a (Mac: Command+Shift+a)
  • "3-bar" menu button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
  • type or paste about:addons in the address bar and press Enter/Return

In the left column of the Add-ons page, click Extensions.

Then cast a critical eye over the list on the right side. Any extensions Firefox installs for built-in features are hidden from this page, so everything listed here is your choice (and your responsibility) to manage. Anything suspicious or that you just do not remember installing or why? If in doubt, disable (or remove).

Any improvement?

Hey. I've just been using what came bundled with my distro. I imported everything from the version I used with my Windows XP. I've never had a problem with it. I've been using it for years.

I checked and there are no add-ons. I even checked for legacy add-ons just to be sure.

Still won't bookmark either the searches or youtube. Which is weird to me. Thre are many searches and scads of youtube videos that were imported in my bookmarks from my Windows computer. It just won't do it now.

I may have to try to install Mozilla's version, but I hesitate to try it. I've found that Mint is kind of picky about the software it works with.

Thanks for the suggestions.
