Hello -- The addon 'Digital Pali Reader' is very important for my study and work, but it no longer works with the newest Firefox version. There is no alternative for it, as it is quite specialised. The person who developed it is a monk and has announced no intention to spend the time needed to make further changes.

How can I revert to an older version of Firefox? It's so important that I be able to use this addon.

Thank you very much,

Judging by my previous experiences with FF upgrades, you are scuppered.

The coders will brook no opposition or even dissent. They know what you should be using, whether you want to or not.

I have just let FF update to 57 on my laptop (which I rarely use) to see what would happen.

It doesn't allow my previous home page which was a neat listing in columns and categories of all my bookmarks.

I have not looked any further... yet. And I now use Pale Moon on my everyday computer. I hope you can revert but from bitter previous experience it is very hard to revert to what you had once you have updated.

Good luck :)

If you still want to downgrade, look under; I still want to downgrade. Click the Directory of other versions and languages link. Look for the directory of the version that you want. But, remember that old versions may have security issues.

I can only go from my experience. Once you have updated to the latest Firefox (whenever it was) it is almost impossible to go back to any previous version as it was.

I eventually upgraded from 19.x to 38.x and was happy-ish, updates turned off. Then FF crashed and when I restarted I was upgraded to 52.x without being asked.

I lost two of my most useful add-ons.

I tried reinstalling both 38 and then 19 but never got full use of either of those add-ons. I even installed in different folders.

I suspect you will not be able to get the original old versions unless you purge your system of Firefox and start again. I did with a different browser. But save your bookmarks first.

"old versions may have security issues"

I never had any security issues with any of the older versions

This refers to things like malware.
