I am a new user of Thunderbird (but not a newbie to email, html etc.) , and have 5.4 installed. But going through all the menu items I cannot get it to display even simple html tags such as '' or ''. I've tried sending messages to myself from web page html <form> tags, as well as sending myself messages with html in the message But in all cases it just writes the tag out as text. Can anyone help please? Thanks, Bob

How are you inserting your tags?

You can't just type them in. It's a wysiwyg style editor, like a word processor. Use the Bold and Italic font decoration buttons, for example, and it will apply these styles by using the appropriate tag pairs, but invisible to the reader.

If you want to hand write html code yourself, you'll need to use the Insert|HTML option in the menu, or get an editor that lets you see the underlying html code.

I use the Stationery add-on for its html editor. Or there is this one:

I do hope you mean 52.4, not 5.4.
