My OS is Windows 10, and I am running Firefox 56.0.2 from an update about ten days ago, and I tossed the Old Firefox Data folder after a week. This morning I discovered that the folder favicons on many of my bookmarks had been replaced with with a Gmail favicon and all of the bookmarks in those folders were missing. After rebooting the machine a couple of times and still having the problem, I decided to restore my bookmarks from a backup. However, when I tried to restore, I received the error message: "Unable to process the backup file." I have tried all fifteen stored backups and all of them throw up the same message. I installed and ran the Places Maintenance app, which found that my files were "sane." I'm not in a panic because I have all of the bookmarks Xmarks synced on my notebook, and I've turned off Xmarks on the laptop with the problem. However, this is one of a number of hassles I've recently had with Firefox, which leads me to think maybe it's time to dump this browser. Any idea what the problem is?
