TB hangs on start-up with a Unresponsive Script dialog. SOLVED caused by McAfee Anti-Spam Thunderbird Extension 3.0
Starting up Thunderbird I get a script error.
Script: chrome://messenger/content/toolbarIconColor.js:48
(sometimes an other error comes up after restarting TB several times, but this one seems dominant)
I cant give more information, like which version I have... because atm TB hangs and the only way to get it of my screen is to kill the main TB process.
This has been going on for weeks. When it occurs I have to wait for sometimes ten minutes until TB becomes responsive again (and sometimes it does not). Normally that is not a real problem,... but today I had to access an e-mail quickly (being on the phone) and I could not. So now it's pissing me off.
May this be an add-on related issue? I am using several calendar add-ons. And no I cant tell the names... bc TB is unresponsive.

hold the shift key while starting Thunderbird to enter safe mode which will disable add-ons to test if they are the cause.
What anti virus program are you using. They are prone to causing hangs and script errors.
Ha, that at least seem to work, though I do not have the addons now. TB starts and there seems to be no problem without the addons
So the problem is probably in one of the addons. I'll not use them and try figuring out one by one (by restarting them) which one it is.
I'm using the McAfee antivirus.
It seems it is the McAfee Anti-Spam Thunderbird Extension 3.0, which is causing TB's hangup. It was last updated 7th Oktober. The moment I disabled that, Thunderbird worked as a charm.
Not pleased with that as that is an important thing to have in an e-mail program. Now I have to figure out what to do about that.
Write to them and make a stink :) https://community.mcafee.com/ https://service.mcafee.com/webcenter/portal
Also, how many messages in your Spam/Junk folder?
31 For 1 e-mail account and 42 for another e-mail account. Other e-mail account spam folders are empty as those do not receive much e-mail anyway.
Why? Is that important, like... clean them out on a regular basis?
Btw I already did a google search for this particular McAfee problem and it seems this is a recurring issue. Topics of people having their TB hang up on them caused by McAfee Anti-spam... go back for a while.
I'm not going to bother (for now) to make yet another topic about it, as it's already a known issue.
Got better things to do. ;-D
