I have a lot of email accounts and have 43 SMTP accounts . I would like to sort the Thunderbird SMTP Server pane so when I am having problems I can locate the correct one more easily . I have the manual sort add on, but that only does the incoming folder pane. I have not been able to find anything about sorting the smtp pane.

I have a workaround which works really well for me.

In 'Account settings' > 'Outgoing server (SMTP)'. Each one is listed in the order the account was created. Not alphabetical or any recognisable order for performing easy location. Note: The list of outgoing smtp servers always starts with whatever you have got in the 'Description' field.

I use the 'Description' field to help me easily identify each mail account which is very useful when you have several using same server name. As it is not possible to move up and down the list, I made the list suit my own numbering system. Starting at the top of the list, select smtp server. click on 'Edit' In the 'Description' field type: 1-email address or name etc click on OK

select second in list smtp server. click on 'Edit' In the 'Description' field type: 2-email address or name etc click on OK

repeat until all is done. By putting a number at the start of each one you now have an ordered list.

In the 'Account Settings' left pane, select any mail account name On the right side at the bottom you will see 'Outgoing Server (SMTP)' and it will now show you Description eg: 15-email address or name

AS all your outgoing smtp list is now in numerical order, it is much easier to locate '15-email address outgoing smtp server'
