thunderbird will not let me log on, keeps sending wrong password. When emails download, I cannot open them to read or delete.

it does not let me log in to receive emails. When I go away and come back, sometimes it has downloaded my emails. Then it will not let me open the emails to read. It will not let me delete any emails that I have already read. This just started 3 days ago. I have contacted twc and we worked with different ways for l40 minutes, but still no results. It keeps sending wrong password or user name.
