I'm sorry Philip you didn't get too far with your question. I know problems occur periodically so an additional address would help a lot!

I have a similar problem and went to my profile thinking I could add a 2nd address so I could do just what you said - use the alternate address when we have problems with the other one, but alas, they don't even give space to add it. Many sites understand this and offer one or more supplemental addresses.
