"From 0.3.1 version you can remove borders (in HTML mail) and the symbol ">" (in plain text mail) manually through the shortkey CTRL-6."

I don't understand the reply or what to do to fix this problem.

It should be noted that I'm running Thunderbird version 52.1.1 (32-bit).

Item 3) in the article does comment about my problem:

3) you can hide borders in HTML mails and delete the quoting character ">" in plain-text emails.

I want to eliminate the quoting character ">" in plain-text email replies. Microsoft Outlook has a check box in their program to eliminate this feature.

Did you install the add-on (how to install)? Once you do, the > characters in the quoted part of a plain text reply can be removed by pressing Ctrl-6 or automatically by selecting that option on the Reply tab of the add-on's Options.
