I have an outlook account with MSM and when I am logged in can use their word and excel apps... they offer a free access and also a monthly subscription for full features. I did not want to pay for something I do not use that often so I searched for some free shareware office to download... it was deceptive, after I downloaded it it was not at all a software office program that one wold run on ones computer.. I could not find the program in add and remove to remove it... all it did was put a icon on the top of my Firefox browser in the tool bar. when I click it it just takes me to the same outlook online tools I already had access to when logged in to outlook... and, if not logged in will have to log in,, one thing it did that I do not like and that pisses me off is that it changed my default search from google to yahoo... I go to tools and options and put it back to google and it only stays there the way I set it until I close the browser as the next time I open it it puts that f-ing yahoo search back as default against my settings. I can not figure out how to get rid of that virus or bug that I downloaded. I cannot find it in add remove as what ever I downloaded just put that in my too bar. I cannot find a way to get rid of it via customizing the toolbar as it will not let me remove it. what do I have to do, uninstall FireFox and reinstall it just to get rid of it... and why does it over ride my settings every time I close and open the browser it puts that god damn yahoo search as the default and I do not want that and it make me mad as it keeps changing my settings or setting of google.

Chosen solution

I tried all of the solutions already mentioned and it didn't stop Yahoo from starting as my default every time I restated the computer, which in my case is daily. I finally found the problem. There is an add-on (something for files control) that actually adds Yahoo every time the system starts. I removed that add-on (which I really had no use for anyway but was installed by Firefox apparently). Now, my chosen default search (Google) stays on with no problem. Hope this helps someone else.

Type about:addons<enter> in the address bar to open your Add-ons Manager. Hot key; <Control> (Mac=<Command>) <Shift> A)

In the Add-ons Manager, on the left, select Extensions. Remove “ yahoo “ Anything. Now do the same in the computer’s Programs Folder.

Windows: Start > Control Panel > Uninstall Programs. Mac: Open the Applications folder. Linux: Check your user manual.

What was the name of that add-on?

Sorry, but all I remember of the name is I believe it started with the word "File".
