How do I stop the constant "Mark Messages as Read By Date" pop-up from displaying?

I'm continually seeing the "Mark Messages as Read By Date" pop-up and it is seriously interfering with my email usage. I get this repeatedly when moving the cursor across the screen with my touch pad, and have to dismiss it before I can do anything else. Sometimes it happens several times immediately after I've closed the previous one. This probably started around 2 months ago.

Thanks for the link above, though my question is actually a bit different, more like this one: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/1138800 which unfortunately also does not yet seem to be resolved. Thunderbird evidently has a utility that allows you to mark numerous emails in your inbox as "Read", and recently some sort of bug has been causing the pop-up to repeatedly appear on my laptop, particularly when viewing my inbox and moving my cursor across the screen. I really have not need or desire to use this utility, I just want it to stop bugging me with repeated pop-ups. Thanks--

The shortcut key for this is C (Just C no Ctrl or Alt)

So we have a number of simple possibilities.

1. Your C key s getting stuck. Mine did it after I spilled tes on it. 2. You are pressing the C key when you think you are reaching for the Alt even Alt+C

Seriously I do not think it is a bug, but something you are doing. Try using a plug in mouse instead of your trackpad.... does the problem go away? I have seen reports in this forum, particularly relating to lenovo trackpads that suggests they are not all that reliable, or some models are not.

You say you are using a touchpad. Inadvertent actions while using a touchpad are common. Accidental selections, drop and drags, left clicks, right clicks.

This is an easily tested theory.

Try connecting a computer mouse and use it exclusively for awhile, not touching the touchpad.
