Installed Thunderbird 45. Where have my "Sent" mails gone ?

Used Thunderbird for many years. Now on Windows 8 Updated today and sidebar showing "Inbox, Drafts, Sent etc" has disappeared. Found some sent mails dated before June but not displayed as a list. One sent today has vanished. I need a" Sent " list or will have to change to another mail reader.

Try alt or F10, then View, Layout and tick the "Folder Pane" check box.
