I just updated Java and now my emails show all the control characters. How do I get rid of them?

That didn't work. Original HTML was already checked. I tried every other setting, but none worked. As I looked further, it appears that several emails were also concatenated into one. The problem seems to be only for emails for the last few days that were in my inbox. I've deleted all but one of them. My newest emails seem to be ok. (Here's hoping.)

In case of mail file corruption try to rebuild the index file of the troubled folder. Right-click the folder - Properties - Repair Folder
