Firefox 49.0 can't be opened after install; these two do not work: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/firefox-cant-be-opened-after-you-install-it-on-mac

OS X 10.10.5. As has been happening with recent versions, Firefox announced an upgrade, but added in the same message that the upgrade could not be installed because the account lacked administrator privileges.* I downloaded Firefox 49.0 and replaced the previous version. I got the warning (no surprise).

Option 1: Using Finder I hold down the control key while clicking the Firefox app file. It opens. I close it, wait, click the icon in the dock. Same verifying and then the developer message with Cancel or Open. Option 1 does not seem to cause 49.0 to be recognized as accepted.

Option 2: I click the icon in the dock and choose Cancel in the developer message. Then open System Preferences>Security & Privacy. I see the message about Firefox and the Open Anyway button. Whether I am fast enough to click it or not, I can't tell. Whether I try to click (even if it seems I was fast enough) or simply wait a second or two, that part of the Security & Privacy pane is cleared. The next time I launch Firefox, OS X verifies and offers Cancel or Open.

I have gotten a better look at what happens with Option 2.

The notice on System Preferences>Security & Privacy does not mention Firefox. Here is what happens with Option 2:

I click the icon in the dock and choose Cancel in the developer message. Then open System Preferences>Security & Privacy. I see this message:

   "My Application" was blocked ...

And I see the Open Anyway button.

Whether I am fast enough to click Open Anyway or not, I can't tell. Whether I try to click (even if it seems I was fast enough) or simply wait a second or two, that part of the Security & Privacy pane is cleared. The next time I launch Firefox, OS X verifies, does not like the developer, and offers Cancel or Open.

The Security & Privacy window, as first displayed, shows:

"My Application" was blocked from operating because it is [Open Anyway]
not from an identified developer.

A profile has been installed that allows additional applications. [Open Profiles...]

Then it changes to the usual display.

I have not been able to find anything about "A profile has been installed that allows additional applications." I posted a question at Apple Support Forums; no reply yet.

Here are two screenshots: immediately, and a second or so later.
