font spacing on main screen

I dislike the new font, spacing etc on firefox with win 10 Thunderbird 45.3.0 so I added Theme font and size changer set to Verdana size 14. Its better but not haw I wouod like it. On the Main screen looking at all emails. There is a large space before and after the font. This is similar to "double spacing" in word paragraph settings. for me there is too much wasted space. Is there any way to change this to single or 1.5 spacing. Cheers Pete
