Firefox crashes
Firefox worked fine until the most recent "update" and now it crashes repeatedly, even in safe mode.
Firefox works (sort of) but many different things trigger yet another crash, including just trying to open a tab or almost anything in the menu.
I can open a private viewing window and look at extensions and add-ons, and I have tried disabling all of them, but nothing helps.
Searching mozilla help pages and everything else google can find and I've tried everything that everybody has suggested ... and I see that lots of other people are having the same problem.
Please help!!!

Thank you for posting the crash report numbers.
The crash report is several pages of data. We need the report numbers to see the whole report.

I've clicked "yes" that FredMcD's reply was helpful because it is always helpful to get a prompt reply, even if the reply does not provide a solution. But I have a love-hate "relationship" with Firefox because it is a valuable but enormously frustrating tool.
Firefox has seen waaaaay too many "updates" ... many of which seem to be a half step forward with two steps back in terms of stability. Is there any product out there that has such a seemingly disproportionate amount of endless crashing?
My system shows 28,000 firefox crash reports pending over that past 2 years.
It is incomprehensible to me that mozilla cannot provide a STABLE version and give us the option to revert from problematic "updates" to a previous working version until they figure out what in the world the problems are with the most recent "updates."
Among the many, many current problems (beyond frequent crashing), after the most recent update(s), when I "mouse-over" page content to capture the content to a text file, the screen blanks out and I cannot see what is happening. Why is that?

In the address bar, type about:crashes<enter>. If you have any new reports from the last two days, please post them.
After, at the top of the page, press the Remove All Reports button. Those reports will be of no value.

Firefox from mozilla.org has been plenty stable on Linux and does not suffer some of the issues Windows users can have.
The crash issues you are having with Firefox 46.0/46.0.1 is not a Firefox problem but caused by the version of liboxygen GTK theme you have in use.
What Ubuntu are you using as 12.04 users were suffering crashes caused by the version of liboxygen GTK theme a while back until Ubuntu patched this theme.
Either check for updates for the liboxygen theme or try another GTK 3 theme.
Firefox as of 46.0 and newer requires GTK 3.4 (three.four) or preferably a much newer version and as a result needs a GTK 3 theme to theme Firefox as GTK 2 themes will not work.
