Why can't thunderbird find certain files to attach?

I recently copied my Thunderbird profile and transferred it to a new PC - from a Win 7 Home Premium 64 bit PC that I upgraded to Win 10 Home, to a new Win 10 Pro PC. I may have stumbled around a bit associating the profile to the new Thunderbird installation on the new PC, but everything seemed to work just fine until I tried to attach a file I had just created on the new PC. I had backed up all my files and folders and restored them to the new PC, but now Thunderbird only sees files (image files in this case) that were there on the old PC and none of the files (in this particular folder anyway) that I have created since then on the new PC.

I can still attach the new files by selecting them outside of Thunderbird, right clicking them and selecting "send to" "mail recipient", but this isn't cool when I want to attach files to a reply.

You can probably tell I'm not a complete dunce, but I'm no techie either, so if you think you have a solution, please try to spell it out clearly, step by step.

Thanks very much, Harley

Chosen solution

Lets just reset the pref, then I will not have to trawl though my old mail

use the config editor Locate the preference mail.compose.attach.dir by typing into the search bar Right click and select reset

Just for completeness does drag and drop work. (drag to the right side of the addressing pane)

I recall something about network drives that go missing. I think this might be a similar issue. But were did I see that stuff. I am not sure.

Matt, thanks very much. That did the trick, but I have discovered another small issue maybe you can help with. It's a matter of formatting. When I hit enter in an email I'm composing, the cursor jumps two lines down rather than one. It only moves one line down when I come to the end of a line in the natural course of typing text. I'm gonna guess the solution will be the same except for I should search for a different string in the config editor. OR, should I post this as a different question? Thanks again, Harley
