Thunderbird DELETES all messages when new ones arrive

more options

When new emails arrive in my inbox, Thunderbird DELETES ALL of yesterday's messages, whether they have been read or not. I have gone through all settings options and indicated NO messages are to be deleted. They do not show up in junk or trash. NOTHING is saved unless I tuck it in to a folder. If I delete it, it is saved in the trash until I do a final delete. VERY frustrating and has gone on for months. I cannot trust Thunderbird on my laptop and only rely on my desktop, where the settings seem fine. I set the laptop with al the same options.
