Cant deleat any of my mail. Deleat it, it keeps coming back.

I cant delete any of my mails. Each time i delete then open Thunderbird they have all come back. Had on line chat help some time ago, cant find it now. They said it was something they could do from their end by remote but needed account holder at my end and they wasn't. Got 1000s of mail now and cant get rid. Any help would be grateful. Delete the messages and then Compact your folder. http://kb.mozillazine.org/Thunderbird_:_Tips_:_Compacting_Folders
