Lost bookmarks after updates

After Updating I have lost all my important bookmarks. I have tried all "profiles" "restarts" "system restore" plus those described in various circles routes , (confusing to 63 yer old) and all to no avail. I have no backups s I have never needed them nd always trusted Firefox. Please help without getting too technical.

Firefox does automatically create bookmarks backup files, but if you have done a system restore that data was overwritten and is now gone.

Do you have an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop in case you have used the Refresh feature in Firefox and have created a new profile?

When you use the Refresh Firefox feature then a new profile is created and some personal data (bookmarks, history, cookies, passwords, form data) is automatically imported. The current profile folder will be moved to an "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop. Installed extensions and other customizations (toolbars, prefs) that you have made are lost and need to be redone.

It is possible to recover data from the "Old Firefox Data" folder on the desktop, but be cautious not to copy corrupted files to avoid carrying over problems.
