I have a brand new computer, installed ubuntu - firefox very slow

I had an HP Computer with dual boot ubuntu and windows.Firefox was running very slowly and took a long time to open web pages. I thought the problem may be with the hardware and bought myself a new laptop - a Fujitsu lifebook A514 which is a core i3 with 8 GB ram. The problem with slow loading of web pages continues. In this case the version of firefox is 43.0.4 which was bundled with ubuntu and i believe is the latest version. Where is the problem?

I might first try these steps, then talk to your internet provider.

The problem also extends to thunderbird.Initially I had a problem with touch pad but that got sorted out with kernel parameters and updation of grub.firefox is extremely slow and it takes minutes to open web pages. The computer is brand new and the ubuntu server and desktop were downloaded from ubuntu website. It is the latest version and all the packages are the latest. The problem is with mozilla as my dual boot windows is working just fine.Internet service provider was contacted and the internet speed was checked. The problem only occurs with firefox and thunderbird.
