How do I revert and install Thunderbird version 31.8
I have just updated to Firebird 38.3. When I wish to send out a bunch of emails I receive the error message “There are non-ASCII characters in the local part of the recipient address . This is not yet supported. Please change this address and try again.”
I have followed the suggestions in “Thunderbird Character Encoding . I found that all my settings were correct.
As a last resort I would like to revert to version 31.8. I went to the directory “Index of /pub/thunderbird/releases/31.8.0/” but I couldn’t find an installer program to use this information.
I went to https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/31.8.0/releasenotes/ . The information said this version is only available for “manual download”. How does this work?
I am using Windows 7, I speak English

You go here:
https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/38.1.0/win32/
I'll leave you to choose between the available dialects of English. ;-)

Zenos,
Thank you for your help! Your fix worked GREAT!!
When you sent me to the link https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/38.1.0/win32/ , I thought what is going on, doesn’t that guy / gal realize I want to revert to a previous version of Thunderbird? Then I noticed the posting date of the software and concluded “it must be a newer version than is on the automatic update system”.
To eliminate confusion in the future, I would suggest that this version of Thunderbird should have a different article number such as “38.1.0.A”.
Thanks Again
My bad. I transposed your digits.
Should have been:
https://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/thunderbird/releases/31.8.0/win32/
...but it sounds as if 38.1 has done it for you anyway.
