why does every update alter my preferences and settings?

It is really tiresome and now it's getting very, very disrespectful of this company to alter my settings (and everyone else's) with every single update. If I keep using this browser, which I doubt, I will not update it.

I did an update, and then of coruse OF COURSE I see my preference to use google as already previously set gone and yahoo in its palce. I could scream. what IS WRONG with this company? It is time consuming to try to figure out HOW to change it back because it's not so user-friendly or easy to find. Then the home page changes and God help us, at least I didn't see that BING THING. I kept trying to change it and it would not chanhe, it was as though frozen, finally I just went to internet explorer. YOu know I always liked that Firfox seemed peppier and faster, but that is no longer the case.

It is just disrespectful to do this to people. If firefox wants money, just charge everyone, but up front about it, ask for money not a donation. This way everyone will have everything left alone for God's sake. HOW HOW HOW DO I GET RID OF THIS SECOND TAB THAT SHOWS UP AS BING RELATED or something I did not ask for, I did not ask for a second tab to open. Why does this happen? How do I stop it? Other than changing to Internet explorer? I would rather pay a fee than have this happen. I have wasted so much time getting rid of that awful BING page. Who in the world would inflict that on people anyway? It is so intrusive. To have to go through and delete bing but thankfully someone knew how to get rid of what should never be there. THEN BEFORE THAt there was this dumping of adobe pdf files and I USE THAT PERIOD. IT IS MY PREFERENCE. Who would just change something without asking? It is so I am afraid of updating this browser you never know what they are going to do next. They don't even ask. I have to ask, in all sincerity, does Mozilla really really think this is what people want? I have MacAfee total security, this browser is supposed to watch out for us also, yet, in downloading VLC I downloaded either some malware, a virus, or whatever and my notebook has had so many horrible issues since. So what are we really gaining if ther eis just as much attacks on this browser problems getting through this browser as there are/were with IE?

How do I just make a stop to any changes? Is this possible, or will this kind of thing continue? It sucks up so much time and I just want to find something, read the paper, etc. thanks for anyone and everyone's insight into this because it does have an impact on the use of this browser. oh BTW I have windows 7 pro 64 bit.

I understand that the default search engine changed. This was not supposed to happen, and I am happy to help prevent it in the future.

Sometimes a problem with Firefox may be a result of malware installed on your computer, that you may not be aware of.

You can try these free programs to scan for malware, which work with your existing antivirus software:

Microsoft Security Essentials is a good permanent antivirus for Windows 7/Vista/XP if you don't already have one. Windows 8 has antivirus built-in already.

Further information can be found in the Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware article.

Did you update, or a fresh install from a stub file?
