After restart or total shutdown followed by turning on, I can get one use of Firefox. Once I close out of it, I can not re-engage into it. I checked and updated Firefox, no help. I currently run Yosemite on my Mac.

Chosen solution

I tried a Force Quit on Firefox. Noticed the little dot under the Firefox icon disappeared. So I then clicked on the Firefox icon and it jumped up and down. Viola! I can now engage Firefox without restarting my computer. So does that mean Firefox was not quitting on its own? And why did that start all of a sudden. Inquiring minds. So with this I seem to be okay once again. How bizarre.

The problem may be that Firefox did not close properly.

Do you get any kind of error message?

I do not get any error messages. I ran Sophos virus scan on my entire computer with no viruses detected. I do not play online games, I do not open attachments from emails I did not initiate. I can get Safari to load every time; I do not like Safari, which is why I use Firefox.

Start your Computer in safe mode with networking. Then start Firefox. Try Safe web sites. Is the problem still there?

Do you what that dot was for? Where it came from?

If it should come back, try to take a snap shot. Safe Surfing.
