On my husbands machine when clicking reply or clicking write the program crashes with no error message or pop up ..

not sure why it's happening or what to do .

Start Thunderbird in Safe Mode (look for an option for this in your Start Menu).

If this works, it's likely there is an add-on causing grief. If so, you need to re-enable your add-ons one by one to discover which is the culprit. :-(

Anti-virus and anti-malware software may also contribute to the problem; try disabling these, or starting your OS in its Safe Mode too.
