My tab page only shows 6 tabs instead of 9
The gear at the top right only lets me hide the new tab page, not adjust the settings, like it shows on the help page.

With the new Firefox update, the number of tiles is now determined on screen size - if you zoom out or expand the window you can have more tiles appear.
If you want to set a fixed number of tiles, I believe you can do so with the following extension:

Just by uploading the extension, when I went to the tab page the nine tiles were already back! I'll play around with the other features. Thank you, Cory. I had played around with the page after I posted my question and I found that I could make the 9 reappear by zooming out, but when I went back to the page it was reset to the original size and only six were showing again.

Make sure to close all tabs with the about:newtab pages and possibly close and restart Firefox to avoid Firefox from using a cached version of the about:newtab page before zooming the page.
