I cannot download and convert videos from Youtube using Firefox v31 and Downloadhelper v4.9.22

more options

This has been a problem for at least 18 months. I receive updates to Firefox and Downloadhelper as they become available and am registered so that I can use the conversion process.

I've looked through the support pages but they don't help me to fix the problem. If a fix exists I would prefer it to be a "Click this button" rather than lines and lines of revised code.

Please help, soonest would be nice.

Please check if all your plugins are up-to-date. To do this, go to the Mozilla Plugin Check site.

Once you're there, the site will check if all your plugins have the latest versions. If you see plugins in the list that have a yellow Update button or a red Update now button, please update these immediately.

To do so, please click each red or yellow button. Then you should see a site that allows you to download the latest version. Double-click the downloaded file to start the installation and follow the steps mentioned in the installation procedure.

Hi,

Thanks for the advice. Once I get to the Plugin Status page I note that one item, Silverlite, has an Update Now button against it (the embedded link in the button is https://www.mozilla.org/en-GB/plugincheck/).

When I click on the Update Now button a new tab opens and it puts me into the Plugin Status page again rather than giving me a site to download the latest plugin version from. There is no was to escape from this loop.

Please can you help me get past this wrong link.

Nigel.

Do to recent Youtube changes you should use the new 4.9.23 version of the Video DownloadHelper Extension.

https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/video-downloadhelper/ Yesterday, YouTube changed their page structure causing Video DownloadHelper not to detect any video. A fix has been pushed to Mozilla servers as version 4.9.23.

I can confirm that as of this morning I have v4.9.23 of Downloadhelper. I have manually updated SilverLight, to 5.1.30514.0, and the red warning on the Plugins page has now gone away, I now get an Up to Date message.

I still have the Youtube problem. I have closed and restarted Firefox but have not yet done a cold boot of my computer.

I do have 5 unknown plugins that Firefox says I need to research, these are for

Microsoft® DRM Windows Presentation Foundation NPCIG.dll (this relates to a Canon image gateway) Windows Live® Photo Gallery Google Update

The .dll will have come along with software with my camera but I have not idea about the rest.

Now whether the DRM is causing the problem I don't know but I am running Microsoft .Net Framework 3.5 SP1 and Windows Media Player 11. For info my PC is running a legitimate copy of Windows XP SP3.

Thanks for the continuing help.

Nigel

Have you been able to convert files before directly with DownloadHelper? If you go to the DownloadHelper preferences and check the Converter tab, you can double check if you conversion capabilities enabled in addition to the programs required to do the conversion. Or are you having trouble downloading even the videos?

I've had the ability to download and convert videos since 2009. I would normally do a download and conversion immediately, but this fails as I've reported. Today I've tried a download only and this also doesn't work.

I've checked on the preferences screen and nothing appears to have changed. It reports that I have the converter program and license information. The only checkbox of the 4 that isn't ticked is log conversions. For information I do not have any conversion rules.
