I'm not sure what you need to know. It's a little hard to answer about an "original" date because:

  • Firefox changes continuously.
  • Firefox for Android contains a component called Gecko that was been under development for more than 10 years.

Can you clarify your question?

Are you referring to the browser itself or the word Firefox?

The first Release of Firefox for Android was version 4.0

Firefox for desktop has existed since it was release with original name of Phoenix at version 0.1 back in Sept 2002. It was changed to Firebird for 0.6, 0.6.1, 0.7 then changed to Firefox as of 0.8 to present. So yes Firefox has existed before Nov 2004 when the nothing special Firefox 1.0 that some people think was the first release compared to 0.9.3 and earlier releases.

The name changes were due to the Phoenix technologies and Firebird sql having it first at time.
