I can't believe that I was upgraded automatically, without asking me. Pi$$ed!!!

So I go into Help -> About Firefox I see "Check for Updates."

Oh Goodie!! I say to myself, "I can check to see if there are any updates, see if all my plug-ins and themes work, then decide if I want to install the updates." I am excited.

Then it says it is downloading an update.... and I can't stop it. Pi$$ed. "This is not going to install an update without asking me, is it? It better not !!!!!"

Sure enough, that is EXACTLY what it does - downloads and installs version 29 over my version 23. And of course, my current theme is broken as a result.

"No biggie..." I think, I'll just undo the upgrade.... or uninstall it.... or something. Right?" Well guess what? None of those options are available to me. So begins a frantic search for a way to get 23 back.

Eventually I find one - I re-install v23, it installs over v29, and I'm back in business. Thank Dog. I pictured going into one of those black holes where I have no browser, no history, no bookmarks, etc.

Problem #1 - When you name a button "Check for Updates," when the user clicks, you can ONLY CHECK FOR UPDATES !!!!! That's it - check. I did not give you permission to do anything else, so you can't.

Problem #2 - If you are going to remove all user choice and download and install any and all updates, then you MUST LABEL THE BUTTON "DOWNLOAD AND INSTALL ALL UPDATES" !!!!!

You guys do realize that this is 2014, right?

Now I have to cross my fingers

Hi,

The people who answer questions here, for the most part, are other Firefox users volunteering their time (like me), not Mozilla employees or Firefox developers.

If you want to leave feedback for Firefox developers, you can go to the Firefox Help menu and select Submit Feedback... or use this link. Your feedback gets collected at http://input.mozilla.org/, where a team of people read it and gather data about the most common issues.

A bug report was sent. Last I heard, it was being addressed.
