WHY does Firefox keep releasing Betas and not a final new version? Whenever Firefox has a new version, my Norton password utility stops working. Granted, I have everything Norton except the password utility disabled, but I DO need that. I've learned not to update Firefox until Norton updates its stuff to be compatible with the new Firefox. Some time ago I checked with Norton to see if they'd updated yet, and was told they would not update for a Beta. Since that time, ALL Firefox updates have been Betas. Since I can't afford to lose my passwords, I don't dare update Firefox. Why in the He-- can't Firefox release an actual new version so that Norton will update compatibility, so I can update my Firefox? Right now I'm stuck on Ffx 23, and if they keep releasing nothing but Betas, I'm going to have to stop using Firefox.

A final release of Firefox 24 will be coming out as soon as next week. Do you need Firefox 24 to fix a problem with Firefox 23 or can you wait?

Please note that when you install a beta version of Firefox, you will be offered updates to new beta versions (right now, those beta versions are the final test builds for Firefox 24). To get off the beta channel and onto the release channel, you can use the Firefox 23.0.1 installer from the regular download page: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all/.

Actually, I'd be just as happy if they never updated the thing. But they've done so many Betas that it was looking like they were never going to release an actual Ffx 24. As as long as the newest thing is a Beta, Norton won't update compatibility, so I can't update Firefox without losing my password utility. I've been on line since the latest and greatest thing was Netscape, so long that a lot of my usernames are the first few letters of my name with no numbers added, and I've acquired so many usernames and passwords that I couldn't possibly remember them. I don't even know how many I have, except that it's in the hundreds. Without a functioning utility to store them and fill them in for me, I'd be screwed.

Mozilla always has 4 concurrent channels of builds running. One Release channel and 3 channels for pre-release builds which are in different stages of the process leading to release.

Release
Beta
Aurora - 2nd alpha stage
Nightly - 1st alpha stage
The latter 3 are intended primarily to be used by users who test the pre-release builds.

Whichever version the user installs is the channel they are updated within. Beta users are updated to the next Beta version (which comes from Aurora), within a few days of a Beta version becoming the new Release version - every 6 weeks.
