How can I remove Alot from my Firefox browser.

I use a Mac desktop version 10.6.8. On advice from my ISP and Apple advisers they said uninstall Firefox and then reinstall a new version and that should not have Alot as the opening page. Have tried this several times following online instructions but each time the new version opens with Alot!

hello gfandrm, go to the extensions panel of the addons manager & remove the ALOT app-bar extension.

Disable or remove Add-ons

afterwards install the search reset addon - it will revert the most common customizations those adware programs do in firefox back to the default: https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/searchreset/

I followed your advice but used the "cannot uninstall an add-on" prompt on the left hand side of the Disable or Remove Add-ons window. This led to reset Firefox, click, which reset Firefox without Alot

After hours of trying with advice from ISP and Apple experts it was very simple and straight forward and I retained all bookmarks etc.
