I downloaded version 7.0.1 recently and ever since, the browser seems to lock up when trying to reach any url. Sometimes it is faster but in average it can take MINUTES or never reach the page. I also use GoogleChrome and the access is instantaneous. My connection is wide bank optic fiber, 6 mb, so that is not an issue. For a couple of years FireFox has been my favorite browser, but if this inconvenience persists I will be forced to use an alternative one.

The default of the pref network.http.max-connections has been increased from 30 to 256 in Firefox 6+ versions.

You can try to decrease the value of the pref network.http.max-connections from 255 to a more modest setting like 30 as used in Firefox 3 versions.

  • bug 692260 - Increase in network.http.max-connections appears to cause hang, requires browser restart

I did that and apparently the problem has been solved. Time will tell whether this is a permanent solution or not. Thank you

Thanks for the suggestion, but not a solution for the people suffering from firefox working for the first 20 seconds and then get the "connecting" while firefox stops connecting to the internet, even though the computer is still connected..
