Strange new tab on startup
Hi.
Every time firefox starts it opens a new tab with the location "http://3124259593/" which is automagically translated into a valid IP (ping does it too) but obviously leads to nothing most of the time. In case it does, I don't know the router password :D
How can I kill this tab once and for all?
No matter what settings I use, to load last tabs or not, blank on start or home, it doesn't help. Disabling all addons doesn't help. What helps is creating a new profile, but that's a hassle and I want to find out what causes this bug.
I'm not sure for how long this has been around, might have been since the last one or two betas.
Edit:
- ente@lappi:/$ grep -r 3124259593 /home/ente/.mozilla/
- ente@lappi:/$ grep -r 3124259593 /home/ente/.firefox/
- ente@lappi:/$

You can show an IP as four 8 bit numbers or convert such an IP (186.56.107.9: 0xBA386B09) to an integer (3124259593) and that is what happened in this case (http://3124259593/ -> http://186.56.107.9/).
Interesting.
But where does it come from in the first place?
The number changes with reboots, but not with restarts of firefox.
Is this some fucked up data in a database? Is ET phoning home? :D
Well I actually just found out what happened. My firefox shortcut started firefox with the %u parameter which apparently gave it some remnant memory data to open a new tab. I think it was capped to the right size so that it could be translated into an IP. But creating a new profile did work, as long as I called firefox through the shell...
Starting firefox without any parameter solves the spooky tab :-)
