Whenever i click on the last tab to open a new empty blank tab nothing happens. i downloaded the new firefox that didnt help restarted that didnt help.

Can't you use the [+] button on the Tab bar to open a new Tab?
Right-click on any Tab and select New Tab?
Or, you can double-click on a blank spot on the Tab bar, if you don't have many Tabs open.

If something has changed recently and you lost a feature that you once had, you need to do a little troubleshooting.
Do you have that problem when running in the Firefox SafeMode?
