Why bookmarks and history disappear and reappear spontaneously without any visible reason?
Sometimes, the bookmarks toolbar disappear and the history list became hidden for no clear reason. Then, after I reboot my laptop and log in again, everything is back to normal.

The reasons might be similar to Fix "The bookmarks and history system will not be functional" error message — normally on Windows that's related to antivirus use locking these files — for Linux the reason why that file would just get locked is pretty much a mystery. When you see this happen the next time, can you check with fuser, lsof or lslocks what everything is accessing or locking the files in your profile folder?
