no e-mail after loading onto a new computer. Checked with "myfairpoint,net" and was told the problem is in thunderbird. A message at the bottom of the screen saysmail server jorder61@myfairpoint.net is not an IMAP4 mail server, What do I do to fix this so I can use my e-mail or should i move it to Outlook or something? It worked fine before.

So how did you set up Thunderbird to use the myfairpoint.net account? Did the automatic setup wizard choose IMAP for you? Did it offer POP?

indicate a rudimentary POP/SMTP service, so it would be good to understand how you have come to be configured for IMAP.

Just setting up the account again and letting it choose POP, or manually entering the settings for POP given in the fairpoint site might be easier than trying to unravel what has gone wrong.
