Having spent 40 mins carefully composing a question on another site and sending it I discovered that they did not accept emails in HTML, only in plain text. So lost my carefully constructed question completely. I was not pleased. Can I set my emails to always go out in both formats and if so how?

Tools|Options|Composition|General→Send Options

But as it points out in that settings pane, maybe you could mark the addressee's preference in their Address Book entry?

Or add the relevant domain to the plaintext domains list.
