Firefox crashes
I received some sort of update of Firefox yesterday, October 2nd (incidentally I never get any advance warning of these updates). Since then Firefox crashes every time I open it. It crashes in safe mode as well. I've run Disk Utility on my laptop but that hasn't helped either. Currently Firefox is unusable.
I have a MacBook Pro 2.66 Intel Dual Core running 10.6.8

That is not the crash ID, but the date that the crash occurred (1349197998; 2 Oct 2012 17:13:18 GMT).
If you have submitted crash reports then please post the IDs of one or more crash reports that have this format:
- bp-xxxxxxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxx-xxxxxxxxxxxx
You can find the IDs of the submitted crash reports on the about:crashes page.
- You can open the about:crashes page via the location bar, like you open a website.

You can do a check for corrupted and duplicate fonts and other font issues:

You can also try to do a clean reinstall and download the full version and trash the currently installed version before installing that version.
Download a new copy of the Firefox program and save the disk image (dmg) file to the desktop
- Firefox 15.0.1: http://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/all.html
- Trash the current Firefox application (e.g. open the Applications folder in the Finder and drag the Firefox application to the Trash) to do a clean (re-)install
- Install the new version that you have downloaded

Your profile data is stored elsewhere in the Firefox Profile Folder, so you won't lose your bookmarks and other personal data if you uninstall and (re)install Firefox.

Thanks for the reply. When Firefox crashes I have to force quit it, and the resulting crash file is sent to Apple, not Mozilla. I have never been asked to send a crash report to Mozilla and wouldn't know how to do so.
I have tried to reinstall Firefox following your instructions, but it still crashes as before.
I've solved it: I managed to keep Firefox open and reset it before it crashed again. When I reopened it it had removed an extension called SIlverlight, and apparently this is what caused the problem. I thought I'd post that in case it was of use to anyone. I've also opted in for sending crash reports to Mozilla....it doesn't seem to be an automatic thing.
