I can not open fox in a private browsing session, it automatically defaults back to searching history & bookmarks everytime I open firefox. How can I stop this?

my location bar in my private tab of options continually defaults back to history & bookmarks. I keep setting it on "nothing".....only works until I close firefox or if I have to tab back home it defaults again in the location bar to history & bookmarks. I want "nothing" to be my default setting. Why does it keep switching?
