Firefox disappeared from my Windows laptop, and my profile with all my bookmarks is completely gone

Given you have an inhouse IT dept. I doubt there is little I can say, although the IT dept. may not have given you a step by step account? ''The Windows Firefox desktop program disappeared'' 1. There is not, as such, a desktop programme, but a link on the desktop that accesses the programme. 2. Hence the Profile is independent of the Desktop 'icon' 3. If Firefox was uninstalled then yes it is likely to deleted any profile, unless specific action it taken to save the profile 4. In a business environment it is unusual for 'an employee' to have a lot of control over the computer's programmes, so it does beg the question how did this happen. 5. I wonder how local backups were searched for | on the Windows drive, | on company backup and of course the failure of a Windows restore point just amplifies either the restore point didn't take in your personal settings or ???? I don't see ho this can be resolved if you have half adept IT people :) Future proof is to copy the profile, regularly to maybe a removable USB. All the best
